Thomas Woodrow Gilmore
FT. WORTH — Thomas Woodrow Gilmore, 88, formerly of La
Marque, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Tom was born December 7, 1918, in Grayson, Louisiana to Newt and Susie Gilmore.
He worked for Marathon Oil, was active in the community coaching baseball,
working with the Boy Scouts, and faithfully attended First Baptist Church of La
Marque for 56 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II, was a 32nd
Degree Mason in Lodge #1324, and recently received his 50-year service pin at a
Masonic ceremony in Burleson, Texas.

Brother Stevens died Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Funeral services will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque at 2:00 pm Friday. Burial, with Masonic Services, will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock . Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm today at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.
Arthur Villarreal
CANYON LAKE - Arthur Villarreal, 87, of Canyon Lake, Texas
and formerly of La Marque, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007, in San
Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Villarreal is survived by Orie Moran of New Braunsfels, Texas; his son and
daughter-in-law, Roxie and Debbie Villarreal of Hewitt, Texas; and two
grandsons, Mark Villarreal and Bryan and his wife Erica Villarreal.

Lonnie Wood
PLANTERSVILLE - After a lengthy illness Lonnie passed from
this life in Navasota, Texas on November 8, 2006, at the age of 66. He was born
June 3, 1940, in Houston, Texas. He was married to Maxine Niederhofter Wood and
they resided in Plantersville, Texas.
Mr. Wood retired from law enforcement after 30 years of service with Texas City
Police Department and La Marque Police Department. He and his wife moved to
Plantersville in 2006 to live in a country setting among the tall pine trees he
so loved.
Chester Lawrence Neagle
1910 - 2006
Chester Lawrence Neagle, a resident of the La Marque -Texas City area since 1934, died on August 12, 2006, at the age of 96 years. He was born on June 25, 1910, in Caddo, Oklahoma, the first of nine children of Luther E. and Lillie M. Neagle, and he spent several of his youthful years in Childress, Texas, before relocating here.
His wife of nearly 70 years, Irene "Renie", died in 2003. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Joy Neagle of Houston; grandchildren, Bonny Weigle and husband Steven of Houston, Kevin Neagle of San Diego, CA., Colin Neagle and Brent Neagle both of Houston; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon and Kayla Weigle of Houston; sisters, Elnora Clements of Texas City and Dorothy Neagle of Conroe; and brothers, William Neagle of West Palm Beach, FL. and Harlen Neagle of Cold Springs; as well as numerous other relatives and friends, including Sadie Gonzalez, her husband and children, who were very special friends. The Neagle family is most appreciative and ever grateful for the generous love, support and comfort provided by Sadie and her family.
Along with his family, Masonry was Chester’s passion. He was a Master Mason since 1944 and was on the forming committee and an original member of La Marque Lodge No. 1325, which was chartered in 1949. He actively participated in the construction of the lodge building and served as the third Worshipful Master in 1952-53 and in many other capacities through the years. He was made a life member in 1962, received an endowed membership in 1988 and was awarded the Golden Trowel in 1991 for his services to Masonry.
Chester was a member of all York Rites and was a 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite, as well as a member of the Allied Masonic Degrees and Knights Masons. His contributions were recognized by the Grand Lodge of Texas. He was also a charter member and past patron of the La Marque Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 17, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Avenue, La Marque, TX 77568. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2006 at the funeral home with the Reverend Bobby Bryant officiating. Burial to follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas with a Masonic gravesite service to be performed.
Pallbearer will be James Rex, Homer Nelson, Steven Weigle, Kevin Neagle, Colin Neagle and Brent Neagle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in the name of Chester L. Neagle to the La Marque Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 447, La Marque, TX 77568 or other organization of choice.
